Sanctuaries are places where these animals can live out their lives in peace, receiving the care they need. The owner of Happy Cat Sanctuary was caring for more cats than the space could comfortably hold. He was preparing to move to a larger facility when tragedy struck earlier this month — a fire devastated the sanctuary. Happy cat fire Sadly, sanctuaries often receive more cats than they can handle. Too many are abandoned, left without a plan or support. But the truth is, many of these cats can find homes — or at the very least, be safely cared for in managed cat colonies. My website has a page explaining TNR (Trap-Neuter-Return) and how to properly maintain a cat colony. trap-neuter-and-return.html You’ll also find an inspiring interview with a dedicated volunteer who donates an incredible amount of her time to TNR efforts and teaches others how to do the same. trap-neuter-return-cats.html Taking care of stray cats in the neighborhood where they live is a great alternative to cat sanctuaries. If you are interested in helping animals in the city, managing, or helping to manage, a cat colony is a great way to do that! ShareIf you know someone who is interested in rescue pets in the city, be sure to let them know about my website. There is a ton of information there, and I'll be adding more.
